Cross Phase

SLN recognises the value of linking across different age and year groups. Some schools choose to work on a cross phase project in order to expand their students’ learning beyond what they feel can be achieved from working with one age group.

Primary pupils gain insight into secondary school life, raising their aspirations and achievement. Secondary students learn skills of mentoring, which in turn builds their self-esteem and communication skills.

This model has proven to be particularly successful for:

  • Year 8 students linking with pupils from their feeder primary schools
  • School councils
  • SLN-Model United Nations debates
  • EAL (English as an additional language) Departments
