CPD for schools
As part of the school linking process, SLN will provide your
school with a day of Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The
CPD covers everything from the basic principles of linking through
to how to deal with difficult conversations and resolve conflict.
We also provide a range of curriculum resources for use throughout
your project.
We encourage schools that are either about to embark on their
link or are already in the early stages of linking projects to
attend CPD together. You are also welcome to attend CPD prior to
and in preparation for making your link.
SLN works to ensure that teachers come away from the CPD
with:
- A clear understanding of the linking process
- An overview of current educational policy and Ofsted
guidelines
- Ways to engage in reflective practice and hold ‘deeper
conversations’
- Planning tools to enable a smooth link visit
- A resource area of tried and tested materials
- A dedicated team who are there to answer all your questions and
support you through your link project.
The CPD is funded by the Department for Children, Schools and
Families (DCSF). Upcoming CPD dates and venues can be found on the
News and Events section on the SLN
homepage.
It is important that schools identify the most suitable staff
member to attend CPD. This could be the SMT member with
responsibility for community cohesion, or an identified subject
teacher. It is advisable that skills and information gained during
CPD be shared and implemented back at school to ensure whole school
involvement and sustainability. SLN further encourages the
involvement of school governors in the running of SLN projects.
Where this training can be extended and better address the
individual needs and circumstances of individual schools, we also
provide bespoke training.
