Why training?
The linking process is a learning journey for all involved. It
requires honest examination of our selves and our perceptions of
others, and some of the issues that arise need to be met with
sensitivity and thoughtfulness. Exploring diversity and identity
can raise challenging issues for students as well as for
teachers.
Successful linking projects need careful planning and
consideration; and there is a wealth of policy and government
recommendations on the topic of community cohesion that is not
otherwise considered in light of linking projects. For these and
other reasons, SLN provides CPD for schools and training for Local
Authorities on successful schools linking.
Training will offer you:
- An overview of government recommendations for community
cohesion work in schools, including Every Child Matters outcomes,
Ofsted guidance, curriculum relevance and information about how
schools are delivering their duty.
- An introduction to the issues related to exploring diversity
and building positive relationships to celebrate difference.
- Opportunities for teachers to reflect and plan a linking
project which is tailored to their school’s needs.
- Structured planning time with your linking partner.
- Advice and support from experienced SLN advisers.
- An introduction to a resource bank of useful information and
curriculum-linked connections and case studies.
- Ongoing support throughout the linking process.
