The
Linking Process
Literally, linking means to make a connection,
to form some kind of relationship, to join or combine in some way
with others. It is more than just coming together; it is the
combination of two or more parts that, once joined, form something
entirely new. Linking provides a way to explore identity, diversity
and the potential of bringing people together in our society.
On one level the idea of linking is really
simple, but underneath there are layers and layers of history and
geography, family and friendships, and the media which influence
our attitudes and opinions to other people. The way we work in the
Schools Linking Network aims to facilitate conversations and
develop deeper awareness of our own identities and those of
others.
The ultimate aim of course is that we will
enjoy meeting and being with new people, people who we may perceive
as very different or those who we may assume to be very much like
us. Whichever is the case, it is always good to be prepared to be
surprised!

We are inviting all schools interested in finding partner
schools in England to register on the new National Gateway on this
site. Here, schools will be supported with free CPD and resources
by us, and put in touch with partner schools within their areas or
in a different part of England.
