Information for new
Local authorities
Working with SLN will provide you with
infrastructure, training, guidance, resources and ongoing support
to establish a successful and sustainable school linking programme
in your district.
This work supports LAs to work in partnership
with schools to fulfil the duty to contribute to community cohesion
as well as addressing safeguarding issues and all the outcomes of
Every Child Matters.
SLN provides:
- training and support to key LA personnel
- funding (from DCSF) to start your programme
- full access to ongoing resources and support
- membership of a rapidly growing national network of
practitioners and researchers in the field of community cohesion
and social responsibility.

There is some DCSF funding available for LAs
joining us in 2010, although there is currently a waiting list.

Local Authority Course
Our course will explore identity, diversity,
equality and community and equip you to support teachers and
school leaders to run their own community cohesion programmes. We
provide materials, resources and tried and tested models of
working. View the course
outline.
Audit and Evaluation
We respond to every local authority according
to its individual needs. Following your three days of training,
based on your initial audit of need, you will be able to put in
place some of the processes explored and establish school links. In
addition to receiving ongoing support, you will be invited to a
review day and an annual event where you will be able to share your
experiences with other local authorities and have access to the
most up-to-date information and resources in this field.
