SLN 2nd Annual Network Day Workshops
Please find below the descriptions of the workshops which took
place during Network Day 2010
Workshop 1 - My Controversial
Identity? The Ripples of Impact – SLN
This workshop will provide participants
with the opportunity to explore how to deal with the controversial
issues which arise in a school, whether in a classroom or a
corridor situation. We will look at the impact that incidents can
have, not only on ‘victims’ or ‘perpetrators’, but also on the
wider school community, how we can be better prepared to deal with
tricky situations and how we have to work as a whole school to
develop broader perspectives, critical thinking and emotional
literacy.
Participants will be joined by a range of
secondary students who will give their input on how issues are
dealt with or not in their schools.
Workshop 2 – “I Believe” in School
Linking – Three Faiths Forum
This workshop will be considering the
additional logistics which need to be considered for linking
students of different faiths and beliefs and how to support your
students and answer difficult questions concerning religious and
non religious identities.
Workshop 3 - Finding common ground,
striving for shared aspirations – Lifeworlds Learning
This workshop will use a creative activity to
identify the common ground that exists between Community Cohesion,
Sustainable Schools and Global Learning. We will build the case for
a more holistic approach to these and other agendas and demonstrate
how this might be achieved by placing learning at the core of
best practice.
