The Institute of Education announces new dates for Holocaust education CPD
‘You can’t interpret the world without understanding the Holocaust.’

In response to demand, the Institute of Education (IOE) has announced new 2012 summer dates for the free of charge Holocaust education programme.
More than 80% of teachers consider themselves ‘self taught’, having had no ITE or CPD input into how to teach about the Holocaust. Over 75% say they now want high quality professional development. The IOE’s programme suppports teachers with the in-depth knowledge, effective classroom materials and confidence needed to help students gain a deep understanding of one of the most important events in modern times.
There is a wealth of evidence to show the impact of the programme on teachers’ confidence, enthusiasm and substantive knowledge. Teachers write and speak enthusiastically about:
· a deeper level of understanding
· depth of knowledge
· confidence to try new approaches
· a renewed enthusiasm for teaching

The CPD is taught over two full day workshops spaced six weeks apart, with support delivered online. More than 500 teachers across the country have participated in the two day programme and 100% of these teachers rated the overall quality of the programme as excellent (84%) or good (16%).
