Noughts and Crosses

An exciting new resource ‘Noughts and Crosses’ designed to help you with your linking activities, is now available on the SLN website.

The resource is based on the book ‘Noughts and Crosses’ by Malorie Blackman – a novel written against a background of prejudice, distrust and danger.  It is aimed at secondary students in key stage four, teacher-led and designed to be run during a 60 minute session.

In our resource we provide a range of useful ideas and tools about how to use the book in class.  We include an extract from the book, and two video clips from The Royal Shakespeare Company featuring young actors performing scenes from the novel.

We’ve included suggestions for ‘key questions’ to inspire discussion topics – for example: ‘Why Do Words Hurt? and ‘Would You Rather ‘Be Someone’ or ‘Make a Difference?’’

There’s also a link to a short film interview with the author Malorie Blackman.
