Welcome

Hello, and welcome to SLN’s Spring Newsletter 2013.  It has almost been a year since my appointment as Chief Executive.  Since then, and as a result of a good deal of effort and collaboration, the entire team of SLN has had the opportunity to connect with itself and to reflect; not only on how its services are delivered, but also, on what those services are, and might be in the future.   Read more…

Linking News

Throughout 2013 we will be continuing to work with 19 local authorities.  The linking process is a learning journey for all involved and requires honest reflection on ourselves and of our perceptions of others.  To inspire you we’ve published two stories – A Year of Linking and A Vision for Learning, which tell of the impact the work has on both young people and teachers.  SLN supports practitioners to develop a consistent approach to issues that are potentially sensitive and challenging – find out more about the new guidance we’re developing to support this work.  Read more…

Outstanding CPD

SLN’s CPD training courses are a proven powerful way to enhance learning.  An understanding of outstanding SMSC Development is becoming increasingly important to head teachers and senior leaders.  Our current CPD on the subject is an excellent introduction and leaves delegates feeling confident, refreshed and well equipped.  SLN runs regular courses in London and Bradford, and other parts of the country on request.  We’d encourage you to book early to ensure your place. Read more…

New Resources

We hope you enjoy working with our new resources for assemblies and linking activities. SLN aims to create and deliver effective support, training and resources for practitioners, that impacts on all learners, including  young people, teachers, associate staff, school leaders, parents and governors. Each week we’ll be featuring a different primary and secondary resource on our website – to be kept regularly informed follow us on Twitter @SLNLinking.  Read more…

SLN Unlocking Talent & Potential

SLN-Model  United Nations

SLN-MUN continues to go from strength to strength, with six individual local authority programmes currently taking place.  The work is extremely well received by all who attend including students, teachers, university lecturers and council members.  Find out what happened in Rotherham, when students from across the Borough embarked on their first SLN-MUN programme; and read what participates said following the recent Norfolk conference.  Both Rotherham and Norfolk chose the pressing subject ‘The Ongoing Conflict in Syria’ as their debate topic.  Read more…
