SLN News
SLN has had a
very busy few months, continuing to support LAs across the country,
launching Wave 5 – see LA page for new LAs to join the network - and
working with a new group of Regional Associates who are now
delivering CPD around the country to any school looking to get
involved with national linking – working in partnership with
another school somewhere else in England. This work represents a
move towards supporting schools to be more flexible in their
approach to community cohesion, global learning and
sustainability.
All these agendas require children and young
people to think critically about global issues and local impacts,
reflect on their own lives and how they relate to others, and how
to become confident engaged active citizens with strong
communication skills. We are delighted to be working in partnership
with many Development Education Centres, not only to support
schools in their areas, but also to start to develop a joined up
conversation about all of these issues and to disseminate best
practice via this growing network. We look forward to welcoming all
our colleagues to our second annual network day in Bradford on 6/7
July where we will share the highlights of the past year and work
together to plan a successful year to come.
