The Worm Collector
Supported by the SLN over 50 Bradford students
from Hanson school travelled to the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds
to see a groundbreaking performance of a play intriguingly named
“The Worm Collector”. The play which portrays the tragic
consequences of carrying knives, was commissioned in partnership
between the Museum and award winning West Yorkshire Playhouse and
tells the story of Mark a 14 year old boy whose school project sees
him filming other peoples scars (or worms as he calls them) in an
attempt to decide which is best. The hard hitting play explores a
number of issues relating to bullying, isolation and the potential
consequences of carrying knives and was followed by a series of
drama workshops which allowed the students to explore other more
constructive ways of dealing with conflict.
