SLN is working with around 27 local authorities across England, as well as a number of other organisations, to establish sustainable district-wide school linking projects.
In addition to our existing work, new programmes are being developed all the time, both in local authorities and across districts where SLN led pilot programmes between 2007 and 2011, as well as in new areas.
Our evolving work involves exciting new developments such as faith school linking across England, where we are working in partnership with Three Faiths Forum, and expansion of our SLN-MUN model with secondary schools.
The Network in 2011
Since September 2011, new work has commenced in the following areas:
- Kent has increased its school linking programme to cover the whole county, asking SLN to train ten more local co-ordinators.
- Stockport is rapidly becoming the northwest hub of SLN, providing CPD and support to schools not only within Stockport itself, but also in partnership with NASSEA, and is now supporting schools in Manchester, Trafford and Cheshire.
- SLN is working in close partnership with Three Faiths Forum to support more independent faith schools to become involved in school linking.
- SLN-Model United Nations work is continuing for the second year in Buckinghamshire and Stockport and is launching this year in Norfolk, Rotherham, Kent and London.
- A London-wide project is in development.
