SLN Poetry Challenge

We are pleased to announce that we have launched an SLN Poetry Challenge for Schools and Young People.  Every month we will be inviting you to get creative and write a poem based on one of two selected words or phrases.

Our selected words or phrases will be published on the SLN website on the first Monday of each month.

Submit your poem to us by the end of the month to be in with the chance of having your work published on our website.  The overall winner – school or individual – will receive a prize.

We are looking for a whole variety of lyrics from short poems to narratives, from sonnets to epics – the more styles the better!  If you are really inspired please feel free to write two poems – one for each word.

The winning entry will be published on the website along with a selection of our favourite poems.

Selected Words or Phrases of the  Month

January – WISH and WORLD

February – I WISH and I WONDER

March – PEOPLE and EQUAL

April – FREEDOM and BELONGING

May – COLOURFUL and FLOWER

You can submit a poem based on any of the chosen words or phrases above at any time – it doesn’t have to be restricted to the particular month.
